Why Attend?
This two-day interactive training supports local authorities, community partners, early years, health, education, family engagement & support services, and parents across Wales to co-deliver Parent Cafés—safe, inclusive spaces where families connect, reflect, and support one another.
Parent Cafés are parent-led community groups in which parents share, learn, and find support. Professionals support parents to facilitate Parent Cafés.
These parent groups provide opportunities for families with experience of child protection services to discuss matters important to them. These parent groups provide opportunities for families to discuss matters important to them.
The goal of group discussions and activities is to help families build the following protective factors which have been proven to be effective in strengthening families:
1. Parental Resilience
2. Social Connections
3. Concrete Support in Times of Need
4. Knowledge of Parenting and Child Development
5. Social and Emotional Competence of Children

WHY SHOULD I ATTEND A PARENT CAFÉ?
1. Get ideas for managing the challenges of parenting
2. Build friendships and get support from other parents
3. Grow into a stronger and more flexible parent/caregiver
4. Get time to reflect on your family and how important you are, as a parent

WHO CAN ATTEND PARENT CAFÉS?
Anyone in a parenting or care giving role may attend, such as the following:
Mums, dads, step-parents, foster parents, grandparents, other Relatives, neighbours, staff.

WHERE AND WHEN ARE PARENT CAFÉS HELD?
Parent Cafés are held in locations and at times that are comfortable and convenient to group members.
The training is delivered by Pan Cymru and overseen by Be Strong Families, who developed the training in America.
